Wallpaper
We are a wallpaper dealer, not a warehouse — we order from the books for customers across Richmond Hill, North York and the rest of the GTA. Below are the lines we carry, how to pair them with Benjamin Moore paint, how to work out how many rolls you need, and how to hang it yourself.
Wallpaper lines we carry
Full sample books for all four are in both stores. Come in, flip through them, take a photo of the pattern number and we will price and order it for you.
- Ontario Decor — Our main line. The widest range of everyday non-woven and paste-the-wall papers — textures, plains, plaster and concrete effects, botanicals. Good stock position, so lead times are usually the shortest.
- Galerie Wallcoverings — Strong on classic and transitional patterns, damasks, stripes and children's collections. Also where our roll-quantity calculator comes from.
- York Wallcoverings — American mill with designer collaborations, grasscloth and peel-and-stick lines. Nice option if you want a removable paper in a rental.
- Crown Wallpaper — Paintable textured papers, anaglypta and commercial-grade vinyls — the line to ask about for hallways, offices and older plaster walls that need covering.
Pairing wallpaper with Benjamin Moore colour
One papered wall almost always needs three painted ones. This is where most DIY jobs go wrong, so here is where we would start. Bring the sample home, tape it up, and look at it at night under your own lights before you commit.
Concrete, plaster & stone looksClassic Gray OC-23 · Revere Pewter HC-172Warm greys keep the wall architectural instead of cold. Use an eggshell finish on the adjoining walls so the texture of the paper still reads as the special one.
Grasscloth, linen & woven texturePale Oak OC-20 · White Dove OC-17 trimNatural fibre papers shift colour panel to panel. A soft off-white next to them looks intentional; a bright white makes the paper look dirty.
Botanical & floralSimply White OC-117 · Soft Fern 2144-40Pull the lightest leaf colour out of the paper and put it on the trim or one accent wall. Do not try to match the flowers — match the background.
Geometric & stripesChantilly Lace OC-65 · Cloud White OC-130Busy pattern wants quiet neighbours. Clean whites also stop a strong repeat from making a small room feel tight.
Dark & dramaticHale Navy HC-154 · Kendall Charcoal HC-166 / Wrought Iron 2124-10Paint the rest of the room in the same depth as the paper, not lighter. Matching the ceiling colour down to the wall is what makes a dark room feel designed.
Murals & feature wallsPick from the mural itselfBring the mural proof to the store and we will match a Benjamin Moore colour straight off it for the other three walls.
Not sure? Bring the wallpaper sample into the store. We will hold it against the fan deck with you — that takes five minutes and saves a gallon of the wrong colour.
How many rolls do you need?
Wallpaper is not sold by square footage the way paint is. A roll gives you a fixed length, and the pattern repeat means you lose some of every strip lining the pattern up. That is why two rooms the same size can need a different number of rolls.
The quick way:
- Measure the width of each wall you are papering and add them together.
- Divide that total by the roll width (most European rolls are 53 cm / about 21 inches) to get the number of strips.
- Measure wall height and add the pattern repeat, then add 10 cm for trimming — that is the length of one strip.
- Divide the roll length by the strip length to see how many strips come out of one roll, then divide your strip count by that.
- Round up, then add one roll. Dye lots change, so a spare roll bought now matches; one bought later may not.

Hanging it yourself
Modern paste-the-wall papers are genuinely DIY-friendly — you paste the wall, not the paper, so there is no soaking table and no folding. This is the clearest walkthrough we have found, from ROMAN, whose primer and adhesive we stock:

Three things people get wrong
- Skipping primer on bare drywall. The paper will stick to the paper facing of the drywall, and removing it later takes the wall with it.
- Papering over old paper. Strip it. The old seams telegraph through and the old adhesive lets go under the new one.
- Starting in a corner. Snap a plumb line and start from there. No wall in a Toronto house is straight.
